I've been there last year .. donot miss out Griya hotel and book a villa with a private pool , an amazing experience with natural views ... and also go to Ubud Black Penny Villas .. for activities, you better try Rafting, go to butterfly park, silver factory, white sand beach, bali zoo and lewa coffee factories (but donot try it ) also the rice fields of course

If you are staying in Ubud you should visit:
1-Monkey forest
2-Do rafting in the white river
3-ATV ( it is quad bike but driving in the jungle- really amazing)
4-Elephant ride but I can't remeber the park name - you can check with the hotel reception they have daily trips
If you are staying in seminyak:
1- you can rent scooter all the day for about nearly 100 LE
2- you will find a lot of cafes in the city and also at the beach side (specially Potato Head beach club)
3- you can go for a place called Jambaran which have all fish shops at the seaside
4-If you like water sports you must try the fly fish and fly board ( all of the water activities you will find them in place called Nusa Dua)
5- go to local shops and buy souvenirs around an area called beach walk ( don't forget to bargain too much, don't buy with the first price)
6- Bali Safari park it is an open park and you will see a lot of animals there and take a tour in a caged car and pass by wild animals. ( you can stay there as they have hotel inside the park so you sleep and hear the sounds of the animals prepare yourself for the adventure)
7-go to rice terrace mountains and take a lot of beautiful photos also you will find some local stores in that area to buy some souvenirs
Weather is nice in October i went at mid of the month 2 years ago

Bali is just a peace of heaven.. I've been there last October. I stayed there for 6 days in two hotels located in totally two different areas and i'll try to give you an overall review about all the good things as well as the disappointments.
At the beggining we stayed in a private pool villa at The Gria villas and spa located at Amed where everything was incredibly mind blowing as the view, the accomodation itself and the activites we did there, like: we visited Bali zoo, white sand beach and silver factory and there were many other temples and places to go but we didnt have enough time for all of them.. one thing that was a bit disappointing is that the weather was too hot with high humidity but we managed enjoying our stay
Then we moved to Ubud area at which we stayed at Black penny villas..
On our way from Amed to Ubud we visited the butterfly park where you can walk there among a huge amount of butterflies of different kinds and the monkey forest
Then we reached Ubud where the weather was a bit cooler than Amed, cloudy all day long and ofcourse rainy. And unfortunately this ruined the whole 3 days that we couldnt even go out for a walk but it was kinda good at the early morning and this is the time everybody there go for river rafting and also to be fair the views in ubud over the rice fields are fascinating
If I could go back in time I would have stayed all the trip long in Amed and would have only visited Ubud for the rafting issue
NB: my whole review is based on the timing of my trip which was in October. Maybe it differs by the different times of the year.
