I ve been in Sri Lanka for 3 month on a business trip, all I can say that the capital Colombo is not worth staying there however there are other beautiful cities which are a must go..central Sri Lanka, there are 2 cities which are Kandy and Sigiria and there You can visit one of the biggest Buddha temples as well climb the Lion Rock and passing by the elephant orphanage

As well south west there are many beautiful cities and they look quite like maldives like Bentota

And there is a train from colombo to a place called Ela, its almost 7 hours but u will be able to see the most beautiful nature landscape in ur life
