I'm from India and I wish to travel to Egypt this November. I'm planning to stay in Cairo. I'm gonna be outside most of the day. I'm looking for a decent hotel where I can keep my stuff safe and of course I'm looking for budget ones.
Being a history geek, I would love to visit St.cathrine monastery in Sinai.
But lately I have heard that it is not safe as IS is active there and many people and military men have laid down their lives defending beautiful Egypt.

Specifics where to stay and the situation in Sinai are welcome.

Cairo have much varieties for hotel accommodation depend on which area you like to based and move from to places you plan to visit
There sheraton and novotel just beside cairo airport
Fairmount towers and radisson blu 20 mins away from cairo airport
Meridian salah salem and triumph hotel all this hotels in Cairo
Also you can use hotels in Giza near to the nile like Ramses Hilton and Conrad and Ritz Carlton and four seasons and sofitel all this are direct nile view
All activities you want and places to visit you can manage it with good travel agency
Wish you good times in Egypt

.. Cairo is just a big polluted and populated city .. the interesting things in Cairo and Giza can be seen in a week if u don't like walking .. the beauty of Egypt is in South Sinai and Aswan .. don't miss the chance to see these beautiful places ..

Check out airbnb We were staying in an apartment in Giza, and it was super. We had a view directly on the pyramides and it was very budgetty option.
