Hurgada is two hours drive from luxor you can take the cruse to Aswan its really cheap then take over night train to cairo have look to the pyramids and the old city

Egypt is very save don't care for the media you can go to hurghada and marsa alaam and sharm el sheikh and you must visit the pyramids and the Egyptian museum finally you will enjoy and it will be unforgettable tour and will not be the first time

it depend on what you want to do , do you want classical tourism or you want to be in a resort on the beach ?! if beach ten you have both sharm , hurghada or marsa allam , if clasical then you have cairo and the nile cruise , you will enjoy allot , just iin luxor and aswan will be really hot

In Sharm el sheikh you have:
A lot of activities
1- snorkeling
2- diving
3- safari with camel, or beach buggy or by car (I prefer by buggy in the sun rise)
Also you have Dahab and the blue hole for diving
Also there is a magnificent place named Farsha you need to go there before the sunset to enjoy the view
4- Luxor and Aswan:
You have to take a Nile cruise and a lot of temples you need to see
Egypt is safe and you are welcome to visit it any time

I suggest you save few days to Gouna when you come to Egypt , also Dahab is charming. October will be a suitable month . Don't miss the old town ( Hussien , khan Khalili , moez street ) and the museums in Cairo.
