I followed that "fiasco" since its inception. It is an example of bureaucracy that controls many corporate. The flight was full. They issued boarding passes and boarded all passengers. Minutes later they got instructions to accommodate 4 staff members allocated to go to the destination airport to fly an airplane there. So they offered $400, they $800 per passenger to volunteer to spend the night in Chicago and fly next afternoon. No one accepted. So they randomly selected 4 to leave. 3 left. This gentleman (Dr. David Dao) is a 69 years Vietnamese American Physician, married to a physician and is a father of 5 children 4 of them are physicians. He immigrated to the US 1980. He refused to leave his seat on this flight as he has patients to see next morning. The rest of the story is as you know. The CEO of United (Mr. Oscar Munoz) followed the cascade of catastrophe in dealing with the fiasco. 1- They could have flown the 4 staff members on a small private plane that will cost less than $10,000. 2- Increase the compensation to the max which is $1300. 3- Definitely not to use excessive force with the passenger or apologize immediately and seek remedy to the fiasco. But arrogantly, Mr. Oscar Munoz, hesitated for 2 days to apologize !!! Sent an email to his employees commanding the handling of the situation and insulting Dr. Dao !!! I can not wait to see him fired from this office that he can not handle.
