Hi everyone,
We are looking for volunteers to take part in a study of Incremental, Interactive Type-checking for Lua.The study investigates how type systems improve interactive development environments. The study requires the participants to implement a text-adventure game interactively in Lua, the programming language, using a specific editor that will be supplied to them. Upon completion of the required tasks, the participants are asked to complete a survey that will help us identify what kind of effect a type system have on interactive development style and, eventually, how to maximize the utilization of interactive environments. The participants will have twenty-two days to complete the implementation and the survey. The participants will have to submit their code with the completed survey.
All participants who complete the survey will receive a $50 CAD honorarium for participation. Participants who withdraw before completing the survey or submit the survey with all the questions unanswered will not be compensated. The survey should take approximately 30 minutes.
If you are interested in participating or have further questions, please contact me.
Currently we are collecting information from all interested potential participants. The informations are:
1 - What programming languages have you mastered and for how many years?
2 - What is your Lua programming skills, if any, i.e. How many years have you been programming with lua?
3 - What is your highest level of education?
4 - What is your employment history?
5 - What is your familiarity with Text Adventure Games, i. e have you seen, played, or programmed similar games before?
All potential participants will be informed about their selection in the study on Monday Sept 29.
Thank you.
We appreciate your help!
