Dear members of the Gannon community:
Today is a sad day on the Gannon University campus. One of our students, a 21-year-old freshman student, a native of Saudi Arabia, was found this afternoon inside his off-campus residence. The coroner pronounced him dead of natural causes. At this difficult time, we are notifying the appropriate persons. As more details become available, we will communicate them through our customary channels.
The death of someone so young is a shocking and deeply sorrowful occasion. Our hearts and our prayers go out to the young man's family, friends and classmates. As a community of faith—of many faiths—Gannon University unites in these times of need to support and console one other.
I encourage any student who is having a hard time dealing with this tragic loss to visit or contact the Student Health and Counseling Center. Additional grief counselors will be on campus to complement our University staff in assisting any student, faculty or staff member who would like to speak with them.
Our faith can provide strength and sustain us. Please join me in prayer for this young man and his family on this deeply sad day.
God's peace and grace, Keith Taylor, Ph.D.PresidentGannon University

In follow-up to the earlier message about the death of our Saudi student, we ask that you please be patient as we continue our communication with the Saudi Cultural Mission and with the student's family. We will release the student's name and further information when it is appropriate so that the University can determine the next steps to express our grief and offer support to our students.
Peace,
Keith Taylor, Ph.D.
