The Bachelor of Science in Perfusion Technology program is rigorous and several prerequisite courses must be completed prior to entry into the program.
To be considered for the Bachelor of Science in Perfusion Technology program, all applicants must:
Have a minimum of 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of general education courses
Have a cumulative and science grade point average (GPA) of 2.9 on a 4.0 scale
Successfully complete all professional prerequisite required courses with a grade of "C" or better.
Sixteen (16) semester hours or 24 quarter hours of science coursework, complete with a grade of "C" or better, must include:
Inorganic chemistry: one semester
Organic chemistry: one semester
Physics: one semester
Human anatomy and human physiology: one semester each or two semesters of a combined anatomy and physiology course with a lab component
Two college level mathematics courses, which must include an introductory course in statistics o Mathematics and statistics
English Composition
o Two courses or documented proficiency at composition II level.
Social sciences: 14 semester hours or 20 quarter hours. Coursework must include:
o Introduction to psychology
o Introduction to sociology
o Other social science courses may include psychology, sociology, economics, history and
anthropology.
Humanities: 8 semester hours or 12 quarter hours.
o Humanities courses include religion, philosophy, foreign languages, literature, or the history of art, music, theater, film, or dance. Studio art classes, instrumental music classes, and speech classes are not acceptable.
