Dear Graduate and Undergraduate students,
I am Nouf Alshreif, I am a doctoral student in the Composition and TESOL program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). I am currently conducting a quantitative study on creative writing and metacognition. I sincerely invite you to participate in this study. Your participation consists of completing this web-based survey, which takes about 10-15 minutes. You will be asked to provide answers to 22 items. The aim of this study is to understand how metacognition relates to creative writing and which kind of creative writing assignments generates higher levels of metacognition. The outcomes of this study will be used to improve future creative writing instruction.
You must be at least 18 years old to participate in this study. Participation in this survey carries no more than minimal risks. These risks do not exceed what might occur in a typical classroom. The survey is anonymous. No data is collected concerning your identity, and neither you nor your institution will be named or referenced in any report concerning this data. Every effort will be made to protect your privacy.
Your participation in this research study is entirely voluntary and all your responses will be kept confidential. Should you choose to participate, no monetary compensation is offered. Participation or non-participation will neither affect your grade in any course nor your relationship with the writing center or tutors. Your instructor will not know whether you participated in this study, because all your responses will be anonymous.
