UT Advisory: UT's Emergency Operations Team continues to monitor the progress of Hurricane Irma. Irma is a category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds 130 mph, moving westward at 13 mph.
As of 5 p.m. today, the storm was located approximately 490 miles east of the Leeward Islands, which are south-southeast of Puerto Rico.
Uncertainty of the storm path remains moderate to high, and impacts to Florida are not known at this time. Irma will likely be near Cuba and the Bahamas this weekend.
At this time there are no plans for operational changes at UT.
The University will post periodic advisories at www.ut.edu/weather, which also has a variety of weather-related links.
