Dear Saudi Students,
We are Amal Alharthi and Jialei Jiang, doctoral students in the Composition and TESOL program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).

You are invited to participate in our research study on metaphors in poetry. We seek your help to better understand how you perceive and produce metaphors in poems. The survey will take about 10 minutes and is completely anonymous. You will be asked to provide answers to 20 items. We are interested in hearing from anyone who are learners of English as a second or additional language.

A link to the survey can be found here.

If you have any questions, you can contact Amal Alharthi ( a.a.alharthi2@iup.edu) or Jialei Jiang (j.jiang2@iup.edu). Please feel free to forward this to another English language learner who may be interested in participating.

This project has been approved by the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Institutional Review board for the protection of human subjects (Phone 724-357-7730).

Thank you!
Amal & Jialei

Hi Amal, I would love to help by sharing this with my ESL students. Quick question: when you say "which of the following best represents the metaphor" do you mean "what does the metaphor mean?"
I need to explain this to my students before they start answering.
