Hue is the capital city of Thừa Thiên–Huế Province and the former imperial capital of Vietnam during the Nguyễn dynasty until 1945. Due to its location near the border between the Republic of Vietnam and North Vietnam the city suffered significant damages structurally and culturally during the Vietnam War.
